Erath 4th of July Celebration
2002 Grand Marshal
The 2002 Grand Marshall of the
Erath Fourth of July parade is Kelly Ruth Menard Broussard.
Broussard is a member of the
Fourth of July Association, the Erath Town and Country Vermilion
Association of Family and Community Education (VAFCE) and the
Catholic Daughters of America.
She is a Eucharistic Minister at
Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church and is the Coordinator of the
Eucharistic Minister to the Shut-ins, as well as being involved in
the printing and publication of the monthly CDA newsletter, in
helping with the French Retreat at the Nursing Home, the annual CDA
blood drive and the annual CDA food drive.
Broussard conducts workshops with
the Vermilion Extension Homemakers Council, teaching arts and crafts
and is the chairperson of the FCE scholarship committee. Previously
Broussard has volunteered with the Erath Youth Baseball Program and
has helped with many school and church projects including the
religion education program and the church directory and pictorial
book in 1998.
She was a member of the Erath
Centennial Committee and was one of the local artists who painted
one of the murals.
The Triad SALT Council for the
Sheriff Department and the Erath museum are just two of the
benefactors of her volunteer work.
Broussard has received the Lady
Citizen of the Year Award in 1992, the Catholic Daughter of the Year
Award in 1994 and the CDA Special Service Award in 2000. She was
also awarded the Service and Leadership award at the 2001 State
Convention of the Louisiana Extension Association for Family &
Broussard is the daughter of the
late Mr. & Mrs. Elodias (Neg) Menard and was married to the late
Isaac Broussard Jr. She has three children, Bonnie, Lovelace and
Carl (Coco), a daughter-in-law, Joan, and two grandchildren Brooke
and Blake Broussard.
